Psychotherapy

I believe that therapy offers us a wonderful opportunity to safely explore our inner and outer worlds; to compassionately investigate the reasons behind the decisions we make (and keep making) and to figure out what might be getting in the way of opening ourselves up to new possibilities.

If you find yourself wishing you had more confidence, better boundaries and closer friendships, a more harmonious family life and a deeper (perhaps more passionate) connection with the partner you have, or hope to find, then therapy could help.

Mindfulness (or awareness of the present moment) is key to accessing the path to a happier, calmer, and more fulfilling day to day experience of life – but staying present when life is busy and your mind is racing and your body is stressed, is no easy ask. It can feel scary and counter-intuitive to acknowledge the state you’re in, so even though we suspect that we’d benefit in some way from allowing our feelings to just be; we tend to switch into tried and tested distraction techniques that temporarily block our ability to feel anything at all. And so we learn nothing and nothing changes.

Therapy will provide you with strategies to help you come back to the present moment so that you can notice what you habitually and often unconsciously do instead of processing emotions. Once you’ve recognised the relationship between your thoughts, feelings and behaviour – connected the dots so to speak, you will be able to see that you have choices; that you’re not doomed to rinse and repeat the same cycle for the rest of time. You are free to look at your life from a new persepective.

If you have any questions at all, feel free to email me and we can arrange a time to talk over the phone or I’m happy to reply by email.
